France 13 - 24 England!

Sorry, but I’m going to have to put the Entente Cordiale on hold just for a bit as I gloat a little over Johnny and the boys doing a number on the French for a second time in four months. In all honesty I thought the score line may have been a little bit harsh towards them. I’m no Rugby expert, but why oh why do the French insist on using Damien Traille to kick at goal. I seem to remember his poor radar costing them against Argentina in the World Cup opener and against us in the semi. I was just glad they didn’t bring Yachvili on earlier as I do definitely remember him being pretty useful in the past.

I got so much stick at work before the semi, but oh how quiet everybody was the week afterwards. Funnily enough I didn’t receive a single wind-up from my workmates this week, and do you know, funnily enough, I can’t see that changing tomorrow either.

However one thing that will impress the French is that “Our Johnny” spoke to the their media en Français! (Now we know what he’s been doing with all that spare time due to his injuries during the last years! Although given the time he’s been out, I wouldn’t have been surprised if he’d been happy to offer his opinions in Mandarin, just in case CCTV had been covering the event.) That, I think, will go down very well here, and it was really nice to see. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Mr Wilko on one of the daily evening round-table talk shows that they put on here most nights. No his French wasn’t perfect, and yes even I could have probably done better, but then the man had just come off the field trying to avoid 15 rhinos beating the living shit out of him, so I think we can let him off there. And what’s more, could you imagine Messrs Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney doing something similar when Don Fabio and his charges come over here next month? I think not, but maybe the “Don’s” purported culture may have rubbed off on them by then…and pigs, well, you know….
